Do you believe in making New Year's resolutions? If so, do you keep the resolutions you make?

I'll be the first to admit that resolutions are difficult for me. I begin every year with the very best of intentions, but I frequently fall short. Maybe that's because I make too many resolutions at one time.

This year, I made only two resolutions:

* To be in better health by the end of 2009 than I am at the beginning; and
* To move closer to my grandchildren.

We’re halfway through the month, and so far I’m doing pretty well on the first. The second is going to take some time to pull together, but I’m hoping to make the move by late summer.

Some of you know that I spent last year serving as president of Romance Writers of
America, a 10,000 member writer’s trade association. I miss serving on the Board of Directors in some ways, but I’m glad to have the time to focus on my career again.

I'm currently working on a new project -- what I expect to be a single title romantic suspense.  That’s what it will be if the characters don’t surprise me, anyway. It's still in the very early stages, so I don't have many details to share now. It's just nose-to-the-grindstone time at my house.

By popular demand, I've reopened the Dancing On Coals Online Writing Workshops. I'll be offering one workshop each month all year except July and December, and registration for each workshop includes a critique of pages from your manuscript.

The schedule for the first half of the year is posted, so check out Dancing On Coals for details
